Today we will talk about the word para. Para is a preposition and we use it in concrete cases.
When you say in English: “I am going to the supermarket to buy food for this week”, you’re using prepositions, exactly “to” and “for”. However, we are going to talk about “to” before “buy food for this week”. Why? Because this preposition “to” is introducing a purpose, right? Why are you going to the supermarket? To buy food. Then, when you want to introduce a purpose in Spanish sentences, you must change “to” for “para”. Let’s see some examples.
>My sister will visit my grandma on Saturday to watch a film with her.
*Mi hermana visitará a mi abuela el sábado para ver una película con ella.
As you see, para is following by an verb in infinitive. Then: PARA + INFINITIVE
>My teacher walks everyday 10k to be fit.
*Mi profesor camina todos los días 10 kilómetros para estar en forma.
> I’m going to go out with my girlfriend this Saturday to eat out.
*Voy a salir con mi novia este sábado para cenar fuera.
